"Starting November 1, 2025, all states must implement eligibility changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—the federal food assistance program. These changes resulting from H.R. 1, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” will take effect despite the ongoing federal government shutdown and its impact on SNAP assistance for over 40 million Americans.
The major change USCRI is tracking for the people and communities we serve is that SNAP will be limited to:
That means that refugees, asylees, survivors of human trafficking, survivors of domestic violence, and other noncitizens will be ineligible for federal food assistance." - U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants |

Agency for New Americans remains committed to standing by families who have been deeply affected by the new administration’s policies. The recent loss of SNAP benefits will place an additional burden on many of our clients, making it harder to meet basic needs like putting food on the table.
As always, ANA is here to support our clients and community in any way we can. This holiday season, we’re asking for your help to ensure families don’t go without. We invite community members to donate grocery store gift cards, especially from places like Walmart and WinCo, that will be distributed directly to families in need. If you would like to donate gift cards, please stop by to drop them off in person at our office on 3501 W. Elder St., STE 104, or please send us an email at [email protected] or [email protected] for inquiries. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference. Below, you’ll also find a list of local food banks and community resources for those seeking additional assistance. |
